Trekking In Turkey: Long Distance Paths

To support our trip on Lycian Way in May 2008 (some pictures at http://www.christian-steimel.de/lykien.htm) we made a Garmin Mapsource compatible contour-line map of Lycia.

Full contour-line-map can be found at http://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com/maplist.php?country=204&region=520&category=4. You may use Sendmap or something equivalent to load the img-file to your gps-unit.

Does a GPS system have a monthly fee or is it just a one time fee? Those GPS systems that tell you when to turn and stuff, do you just pay the couple hundred for the system and that's it, or do you have to pay money per month for the satellite service? If you do, how much is it? Thanks!

It depends on what system you choose.

There are some for which you just pay a one-off fee but you don't get any updates.

Some include, say a year, of updates in the purchase price.

With others you pay a monthly or annual subscription and continue to have updated material available.
