Hi. I'm planning to hike the first part of the Lycian way in April. From the book it seems like you can get a minibus (weekdays) or hitch to the main road from Bogazici and catch a bus from there. We are thinking of catching the bus from there to Antalya or Olympos. My questions are: Is this still a good plan? Has anyone done it? is there a bus stop/station where the road from Bogazici meets the main road, or do you flag down a bus. If so, how do you go about doing that? Would it be easier to just get to Esen and go from there?

Thanks for any advice.

Adam

You'll need to get to the main road between Esen and Kalkan, the D400, from Bogazici as there is a very limited service in the village. You'll either have to hike down, thumb a lift, or try to get a local taxi. If you use the taxi option, agree the price with the driver prior to the journey. The drivers of the local school buses (mini-buses with signs saying Okul Tasiti) will often take hikers down into Esen for the price of a few teas. The kids love it too as they get a chance to practice their English.

Once you get onto the main road there are dolmuses (mini-buses) travelling that route every few minutes. You just wave them down, and if they have seats available, they'll stop.

Try to get on one that's going to Kalkan / Kas. Then you can try getting an express coach through to Antalya from either of these towns.

If you can get into Esen there is also a small coach station (Otogar) where you might be able to get on one of the express services providing that there are seats available.

Hey, thanks alot! That's just the information I needed. I don't know if people thank you often for all the information you give on this board, but I've been browsing around here and you always seem to contribute, so thanks!
