Good news

Accurate satellite photos of the Antalya area, including parts of LW and the southernmost end of SPT, has just been launched on Google Earth.

If the routes could be drawn onto these photos and shown as a post for downloading, it wil probably be the most accurate visual guide ever available. When completed, it would be possible to make a printing of specific sections to bring along.

I will be spending a week on SPT at the end of the summer, however I am not able to plot in the whole route by myself. Furthermore no complete close coverage of either routes are available yet, so a Google Earth mapping would require a larger coorporation.
I suggest that those with an intimate knowledge of the area could try to plot in route sections and send them to Kate.

Many regards

Peter

Just saw this posting.

I GPSed some of the Lycian Way in 2004 while on a work party led by Kate. We however mountain biked some of the trail and also rode around parts of the trail that were too difficult for mountain bikes. And we also drove in a vehicle past parts of the trail that didn't need work.

If this is useful, I'll try to wade through my other track information and post it. This trip was my first use of a GPSr, and the data is almost three years old.

These are more or less in order from from the western end heading south (east). Clicking on the links may result in the data loading in the page. Just save the page. If ".txt" is added to the name of the file, remove the ".txt" and then double click on the .kmz file to see the route in Google Earth.

Lycian Way A
Lycian Way B
Lycian Detour
Lycian Way C
Lycian Way D
Lycian Way E
Lycian Side Trip

I edited this several hours after the initial posting to add more pieces. I still a bit more of the route coming into Kas.

Hello,

i managed to merge the google images to a large file and overlay some waypoints. To me they seem to be in correct position. However, I havn't been there yet, but flights are booked! I uploaded two smaller sections as examples, so if somebody with knowledge of the area could check that, would be great...

I want to redo the whole procedure because I am not satisfied yet. However if somebody is interested in the complete data (several MB) contact me.

I have read from an article that in Bodrum turkey has a good flight service on Airline Company. However, there is also a cheap airline ticket that I’ve search from the site of tyrone and company.com. I think this information will help other people.

Turkish Airlines and Sky Airlines are probably the best.
