On the north section of the St Paul Trail, you have to cross Lake Egirdir. There are plenty of fishing boats on the lake shores, and when you arrive at Dikmen Ciftligi, it's easy to go to the fish farm just N of where you meet the main road, and ask for a boat ride across. The ride takes only about 20 minutes.
The family who own the fish farm will also give you a meal while you are waiting to cross. Ibo at the Lale Pension in Egirdir will pre-book the boat for you if you know which day you want to cross. Crossing - app 10 dollars.
There are 2 places on the route where you could slip and hurt yourself. One is above the Candir Canyon, before Cukur. The second is in the small canyon before Sipahiler. Both have fixed wires as hand holds. Please report any problems with these wires immediately. For groups, we recommend you bring slings and carabiners to clip onto the wires. Solo trekkers should be able to cross just by holding the wires. If the rock is wet and slippery, wait for better conditions before you walk these sections.
The crossing at the regulator (before Akcapinar) is quite safe from mid-April until about November. You climb down the ladder (see R) to reach the 90cm wide concrete sill which runs all the way across to the far side, where there is another ladder.
